July Haul

Copy of Copy of Top Ten Tuesday

This month, I was pretty good! Honestly, I feel like I was. And, there so are books that I want to get myself but don’t currently have the funds. Thanks, preorders and textbooks.

Book of the Month

As y’all know by now, I’m an affiliate for their YA box. If you’re interested, click my affiliate link and sign up! August books will be here very, very soon!

This was what I chose for my affiliate box! And these are all my choices together:

Unplugged Book Box

So, the other day, I decided to do a shop order from @unpluggedbookbox! I was planning on doing separate posts but I changed my mind. 🤷‍♂️ 📚 I got Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian! I've heard some good things, so I'm hoping to get to it soon. Then, I got their wine glass that reads "When in doubt… go to the library." It pairs wonderfully with the coaster I got from @owlcrate! Finally, I got a candle that smells amazing and is based off The Priory of the Orange Tree by @say_shannon. 📚 #unpluggedbookbox #booksubscriptionbox #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #ilovebooks📚 #ilovereading #likealovestory #abdinazemian #whenindoubtgotothelibrary #owlcrate #theprioryoftheorangetree 📚 [Image description: First picture is of Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian held up with no extra props. I ordered a few things from their store, so you can click through that to see what I picked! But, I got a book, candle, and stemless wine glass. All are great choices, although I haven’t read the book yet!

Book Depository

My wine glass may or may not have something in it. 🙄 📚 But, really, adulting is hard. I didn't sign up for this! What makes it better is a @bookdepository package! (And wine. Pinot grigio today.) I got a couple more Penguin Monarch books, the Slytherin version of Prisoner of Azkaban, and I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman! 📚 What was your last Book Depository purchase? 📚 #boozybibliophiles #bookstack #bookhaul #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #historicalnonfiction #penguinmonarchs #edwardi #henryv #transbookstagram #transbooks #iwasbornforthis #aliceoseman #tbrpile #harrypotterandtheprisonerofazkaban #slytherin #slytherinpride 📚 [Image description: First picture is a book stack that has a wine glass that reads Adulting Is Hard on top. I also placed a Book Depository order! Have my hands on so many good books. I’m very excited to read them. Also, my Slytherin copy of Prisoner of Azkaban makes me so happy.

Bookstagram is great and so is Sam! She found someone who was looking to give up this copy, traded for it, and sent it to me. And, since you’ve read my review by now, you’ll know that I really liked it!

Believe it or not, I won a giveaway from TorTeen! I never win giveaways, so that was really exciting. I also did read the book quite quickly and enjoyed it. A new author for me to keep an eye on!

Finally, I got this! I did not expect to have the ARC sent to me, even though I requested it from them, so I’m just entirely over the moon about it. One of the books I’m highly anticipating for 2020.

Talk to me!
How did you treat your shelf this month?

June Haul

Copy of Copy of Top Ten Tuesday

Hello all! I’m here to share with you the books that I bought and was sent this month! I did spend a bit more since I did go on vacation and had a blast.

Book of the Month

These are my June picks from the ever wonderful @bookofthemonth! I couldn't help but get three. I can always find more books, even though my #tbrpile is growing at an extreme rate. 📚 I got We Hunt the Flame because it's been so hyped for me. Then, The Golden Hour because it mentioned the Windsors and, well, royalty got me hooked. Finally, Recursion because I've never read Blake Crouch before and this was my chance! 📚 What book(s) did you get?? 📚 #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookofthemonth #booksubscriptionbox #amreading #tbr 📚 [Image description: We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal, The Golden Hour by Beatriz Williams, and Recursion by Blake Crouch. Books are resting on a grey blanket.]

This time, I got three books! I actually read two over my vacation, We Hunt the Flame and Recursion. Both of the reviews are on my Goodreads! I’m probably going to read The Golden Hour a bit later since it feels like a good fall read for me.

I got my Owlcrate box yesterday! And, y'all, it was a winner. Swipe for spoilers! 📚 I'm super excited about the coffee. I can't try it yet since we only have a Keurig but I'm going to ASAP. The book ends are also gorgeous. I'm totally using them as props in my pictures! And coasters?? Love em. Always need more. Lastly, the book. I guessed right and I'm very excited to read it. Also, that cover is amazing. 📚 What's your favorite part of the box? 📚 #owlcrate #booksubscriptionbox #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #yafantasy #tbr 📚 [Image description: Pictures of June's Owlcrate box! First picture is just of the box. Second is of Book Beau coffee that's Beauty and the Beast themed and a key shaped pen. Third is of Narnia themed book ends. Fourth is of a bag with a Strange the Dreamer quote on it. Fifth is of a set of coasters with bookish quotes on them. Sixth is of the enamel pin. Seventh is of the book, Sorcery of Thorns.]

This month, I decided to get Owlcrate! I figured out the book (and it was one that I had my eyes on). Plus the goodies that they talked about were too good to pass up! Not only can’t I wait to read the book, but it had stuff in it (gender neutral stuff!!) that I’m actually going to be using.

See this stack? These are the books that I got at @powellsbooks! Obviously, I got quite a few. 🤣 In other news, I have no self control. Only one isn't pictured because I got it for my mom! 📚 I got a few books that I've already read, but most were ones that I haven't! My stacks of unread books have definitely grown. 📚 #bookpile #bookstack #reader #amreading #tbrpile #bookstagrammer #bookstagram 📚 [Image description: Stack of books that include The Shining by Stephen King, Lies We Tell Ourselves by Robin Talley, Solitaire by Alice Oseman, Our Own Private Universe by Robin Talley, Little & Lion by Brandy Colbert, Scythe by Neil Shusterman, and The Romanovs by Simon Sebag Montefiore.]

A post shared by Caidyn (@bwreviewsblog) on

This is my haul from Powell’s specifically. Funny enough, I had already read Scythe (as y’all know) and The Shining. While I was in Portland, I also read Lies We Tell Ourselves and Solitaire. I’m currently reading The Romanovs. So, I think I’m doing very good at this!

Not pictured are books I bought in Barnes and Noble while we waited on her mom. I got Nocturna, With the Fire on High, and  Love From A to Z.

From publishers

#partner While I was away in Portland, I got some amazing #bookmail that I want to show off! (While also using my new bookends from @owlcrate!) 📚 First up were some raffle wins from @bookishhq! So far, they're such fun! I'm grateful to have them and I will always thank the wonderful people who worked hard to organize this. So, thanks for the books! 📚 Next was surprise bookmail from @vikingbooks! I didn't expect it, but it looks really good. It's an already published book, so I'm planning on reading it next month. Thank you for sending it to me! 📚 #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookishfirst #bookishhq #arcs #thisishowyoulosethetimewar #dragonslayer #theartofbreakingthings #reader #amreading #currentlyreading 📚 [Image description: First picture is of all the books together with bookends holding them up. Fourth and final picture is of The Art of Breaking Things by Laura Sibson.]

Then, I got home from Portland to some amazing mail from publishers! I’m currently reading Dragonslayer and This is How You Lose the Time War since they come out in early July and I want to make sure they’re read since they’re ARCs. But, I really am excited to dig into The Art of Breaking Things since it gives me a Sadie vibe.

But, those were the books that I got this month! I’m sure that July will be a light month since I have expenses that I’m expecting, but who knows!

Talk to me!
What books did you get this month?
Have you read any of these? What did you think?

May Haul

Copy of Copy of Top Ten Tuesday

I was pretty good this month with books! My parents got me a couple of book boxes this month to celebrate being done with grad school, then I treated myself for new releases!

I got three books this month! Funny enough, I wasn’t a fan of The Secret History. But, I’m planning on reading Necessary People and The Buried in June or July! Aka, when there’s time and I’m in the mood for them.

Physical ARCs

I DNFed A Nearly Normal Family, so, obviously, that didn’t go over well. Still a huge thanks to BookishFirst and the publisher for sending me the ARC! Then, I got Magic for Liars! Another thank you to BookishFirst and the publisher! I really enjoyed this one. It was just so damn good.

Penguin Monarchs

I love these little books, so I got a few more that I will read in the next few months! I’m happy that I decided to get some of the earlier kings and I’m also excited to read about James I since he’s a monarch I want to know more about.

I love Tor.com and look at this finished copy! I was lucky enough to read an ARC of this so I’m very happy that I own the finished version of it to enjoy.

Unplugged Book Box

As I said, my parents got me a couple of boxes. They got me the Adult and YA boxes offered by the wonderful company that this is.

The prompt for the YA box was If Not Now, When? It came with a pair of socks, face mask, small candle, and a mason jar. I loved the socks and candle! The mason jar is fantastic to drink out of, too. As for the book, I’m not too sure. I’ll give it a try but it’s about the aftermath of a school shooting. That’s not a topic I enjoy reading about. As I said, I’m going to give it a try!

The Adult box was a bit more my speed! The prompt for it was Grief, which was a very needed topic for me. It came with a hand towel, candle, face mask, essential oil roller, and candy. I absolutely love the candle and roller. I’ll definitely be using the face mask very soon as well! And the book sounds super interesting. I’m curious how it links with grief because it’s not very apparent.

Random Preorders and Buys

A couple of Sundays ago, I went with a friend from my master’s program to a boozy drag lunch. We parked near a used bookstore then walked, so when we got back (still a bit tipsy) we got books! This is my haul from that, which is, well, quite a few. I got Social Work Practice and Psychopharmacology and Dying Well for social work. Then, I’ve had my eye on Winter King, Manson, and Contagion for a while now. Then, One of Us and Serial Killers and Psychopaths fits my reading mood at the moment!

I got two preorders this month! Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered is just… ugh. I’m so damn excited to read this!! Same with If You See Her. I’m really excited since I love Ania Ahlborn. If you love horror, you have to check her out.

Holiday Haul

Copy of Copy of Top Ten Tuesday

One thing y’all who took our 2018 survey said was that you wanted monthly book hauls. So, here we are! The first one! Since I celebrate Christmas, I’m super excited to be doing this because I got a lot of cool stuff.

All these pictures are my own! A lot of them were on our bookstagram, so there are some repeats. Then I also took pictures specifically for this! If you don’t follow our account, you totally should. We post multiple times a week and I usually try to do a story each day.
