Down the TBR Hole

Down the TBR Hole

Down the TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

The Mistresses of Henry VIII

This interests me, however I also think that there won’t be a lot of information given because there just isn’t evidence for some of this stuff. Like, Henry was very discreet.

Verdict: GO! (to my maybe shelf)

John Dies at the End (John Dies at the End, #1)

Unpopular opinion: This doesn’t really interest me. Never really has.

Verdict: GO!

In Triumph's Wake: Royal Mothers, Tragic Daughters, and the Price They Paid for Glory

This is still up my interest lane, so there’s that.

Verdict: Keep

Born to Rule: Five Reigning Consorts, Granddaughters of Queen Victoria

Again, still sounds fascinating to me!

Verdict: Keep

The Fever

This sounds interesting, but I dunno. It seems like it’ll either be super good or really bad.

Verdict: GO! (to my maybe shelf, too)

Marie-Thérèse, Child of Terror: The Fate of Marie Antoinette's Daughter

Definitely keeping this because no one ever talks about the kids. Just the parents.

Verdict: Keep

The Lost King of France: How DNA Solved the Mystery of the Murdered Son of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette

I totally just bought this book, so it’s going to stay.

Verdict: Keep

Sun on Fire

Not sure? It sounds interesting, but I don’t think I’ll be reading it tbh. There are so many other books I want to read.

Verdict: GO!

Things Fall Apart (The African Trilogy, #1)

Like, really, this doesn’t interest me that much. Maybe one day, but not unless it really calls to me.

Verdict: GO!

Nicholas and Alexandra

This is on my mental TBR for March — yes, I’m starting to put that together — so obviously this will stay.

Verdict: Keep

Wicked Games (Wicked Games, #1)

Yeah, not really for me anymore.

Verdict: GO!

Last TBR: 1920

Books kept: 4

Books removed: 6

Current TBR: 1912

But, really, my mom would roll her eyes if I told her about this.

Talk to me!
Any books I should have kept? Any that should really go?
