Top Ten Tuesday – Bookish Resolutions/Goals

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018!

So, today’s post is really a freebie, so I’m going back and doing some bookish goals that I have for 2019! I’m already trying to think ahead since, well, we only have a few weeks until the next year hits us.

  • Read more classics

This year, I really slacked at reading classics. I love them, so I don’t know why I slacked. But, I know a few that I’d love to read in 2019.

  • Read more nonfiction

Again, I really lacked here this year. I’m a bit disappointed in myself for it because, well, I love nonfiction. Again, I have quite a few in mind for 2019 that I plan on getting to since I love it so much.

  • Buy fewer books

Yep. I really need to do this. I think I own more than 400 unread books. I’m ashamed of that. And that’s not including the stuff on my Kindle. Yeah. So, in 2019, I’d really love to only buy new releases I’m looking forward to or books I’ve read and know I want to own.

  • Try to get the blog to 600 followers

At the time of writing this, we’re a little over midway to 400 followers. I’d love it if the blog got to 600. Given that I have a million other balls in the air, that’s not going to be my top priority — my top priority is generating content — but it’s something I’d love to do.

  • Hit 700 followers on Instagram

This is another one of those goals that I’d love to reach but I’m not going to force it. Right now, we’re nearly to 600 followers, but that fluctuates a whole lot since we get those stupid accounts that follow/unfollow. But, if you want to check us out, click here!

  • Comment more on posts

I know that in order to reach the above two goals, I need to really start reaching out more. That takes a lot of time, but I think that if I set aside 30 minutes to an hour per day, I can do better at this. Sure, that’s a lot of time, but it’s more that I need to have better time management.

  • Get my TBR down to 1800 books

I’ve been doing Down the TBR Hole for a while now and my TBR on Goodreads (you can add me here!) is around 1930. I want to get it down to 1800 by 2019, whether that’s through reading the books on my TBR or purging them.

  • Try to do a post per day

As I said, content is a huge focus for me with the blog. I’ve been so proud of myself for being able to do a blog post per day for the past few months, so I’d love it if I kept that up for 2019.

  • Don’t pressure myself to read the “popular” books

This is a huge one here. Popular books and I don’t always get along. And, I see people reading them or reading the ARCs and I feel that I have to read them, too. All while I’m only semi-interested in reading them. So, 2019 might have a lot of unconventional reads from me.

  • Carve out a chunk of time per day to do blog thing so I’m not rushing at the beginning and end of months to have content prepared

This is a HUGE thing as well. Half the time, I save up all the blogging I need to do for a day I have free — aka, no homework, no classes, no practicum — then write 4+ reviews and a ton of tags (which is what I’m doing at the time of writing this!). I get myself stressed out watching the blog responsibilities grow. I just need to get into the habit of doing a bit each day so it’s not terrifying.

Those are my 2019 blogging goals! I hope the post wasn’t too boring for y’all. And, as always…

Talk to me!
What are some goals you have for 2019?

  1. I’m the same with popular books. It’s one of my goals to not get suckered in too. But then I see them as an arc or on sake and I’m just like maybe…..
