Three Quotes, Three Days – Day Two

Okay, so we were tagged by Coffee, Cakes n Books to do this! Thank you so much for the tag!! We’ve always seen this around but never had a chance to do it. This is the second day, so you can read day one here.

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote (each) for three consecutive days.
  • Nominate three bloggers each day.

Caidyn will be in blue.
Chantel will be in purple.

That you are here—that life exists, and identity;
That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse.

– Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

Now, I’m not a poetry fan. I hated transcendental poetry when we had to read it in high school. Like, I love it explained to me and someone telling me what it means. I can memorize it and pass a test easy. But I have no interest in reading it on my own.

But, I love this quote.

Whenever I read it, I think of the movie Dead Poet’s Society. If you haven’t seen it, you should. It’s very good and it just… so good. Probably my favorite Robin Williams movie, too. He plays such a different role than usual and the quote I chose just speaks to it.

“And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.” – Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

When I read this book, I absolutely loved it. I haven’t read it since and I’d like to read it again soon. What I am trying to get at, is I don’t know if this quote is in the book. I know it’s in the movie and since the author wrote and directed the movie, it makes things a bit easier.

The movie adaptation is one of the best I’ve ever seen and I think part of that is the fact that Stephen Chbosky wrote and directed it. That doesn’t always work out, but in this case, it was perfect.

Emma Watson and Logan Lerman were perfect and I love the casting of Ezra Miller as Patrick. I’ve seen the movie so many times and whenever I hear this line, I get chills.

Again, we’re not going to tag people. If you have some quotes that you want to talk about or show to everyone, please feel free to consider yourself tagged by us! (And link us to yours so we can see your quote and talk about it with you!)
