Three Quotes, Three Days – Day One

Okay, so we were tagged by Coffee, Cakes n Books to do this! Thank you so much for the tag!! We’ve always seen this around but never had a chance to do it.

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote (each) for three consecutive days.
  • Nominate three bloggers each day.

Caidyn will be in blue.
Chantel will be in purple.

“It doesn’t matter that you didn’t believe in us,” said Mr. Ibis. “We believed in you.”

– Neil Gaiman, American Gods

I guess I’m starting this whole tag with a short quote, I guess. I have a list of quotes that I like on Goodreads, so I was scrolling through it to find something that spoke to me.

This one did for today!

I read this a long time ago, but the above quote always stood out to me. I’ve never been (and still am not) a very religious person. But, I do have a god that I pay specific attention to and think about quite often. I just love the sentiment of this quote because it aligns with what I believe.

Plus, when you hear it read or read it with the context of the book, it gives you chills.

“I wish I had a hundred years, she said, very quietly. A hundred years I could give to you.” – Patrick Ness, A Monster Calls

This is the line that broke me. When I first read A Monster Calls, it was one of the best books I’d ever read. This line always stood out to me and I’m pretty sure it’s the reason I burst out in tears while reading the book. Even though, I wasn’t a fan of the movie, this line and the way Felicity Jones said it was beautiful and made me tear up.

To me, this line says so much more than a simple ‘I love you’. Time will never stop and we will always submit to it one day. A hundred years is a long time for us, but it will never be enough to spend with the ones we love.

Honestly, this would be one of those quotes I would get tattooed on me if I was going to get a quote as a tattoo. It’s just so beautiful and encompasses love in such a powerful way.

So, like usual we aren’t going to tag anybody because that’s not our thing, however, we’d love to hear about the quotes that stood out to you! Consider yourself tagged if you like this tag!
